Here’s the thing: even the top online dating sites out there are going to have a few scams. It’s all in how you manage these scams and know how to avoid them that really makes a site worth while, especially when you consider that compared to free online dating sites, these scams are very, very few and far between for the most part.
You still need to be able to recognize scams.
Even if the scams on the best sites just aren’t that big of a deal, they’re still scams. You still need to be able to pick them out, especially if you’ve spent a ton of time comparing online dating sites and have picked out your favorites from a bunch of them.
You don’t want to end up on a site that’s just covered in cam girls, for example. Every site’s going to have them, even the good ones, but a good moderation system is going to make it that much easier to keep these ladies off.
No matter what, you just need to avoid clicking on the links that are listed in their profiles. If you can do that, you’re safe. They’re the lesser of all the scams you’re going to see out there, and that’s important for you to remember.
Watch out for credit card scams, too.
This is the kind of scam that we honestly hate the most, but fortunately, it’s also incredibly easy to avoid if you know what to look for. First and foremost, you should never click on any links in suspicious e-mails and login on the screens that they give you. Doing so is probably just an attempt to steal your login information, and with it, your personal info.
From there, they will often be able to get your personal identity, address, and ultimately, your credit card info. Never login to a site unless you know for sure that it’s authentic.
This might be one of the most obnoxious scams out there, and you’ll also see it in chat rooms on the actual dating sites. Never give out your login information to someone claiming to be an administrator!
Women can commit scams, too.
If she starts asking you for money, click out of the chat. If she starts asking you for your credit card, click out of the chat. No matter what, just don’t give her cash. She’s definitely a scammer if she’s asking for it, and she’s definitely trying to take you for a ride.
